Zapier Integration

(Please note that our Zapier integration requires a Timing Connect subscription.)

Timing can integrate with Zapier. To manage the integration, please visit the corresponding page in the Timing web app.

We have prepared two articles to help you learn what the Zapier integration can do for you, and how you can use it:

In addition, here are some examples for Zaps you can create:

  • Export time entries to Freshbooks for billing.
Connect a "New Time Entry" Timing trigger with a "New Time Entry" Freshbooks action.
This would also work with other billing tools like Quickbooks.
  • Export time entries to Toggl or Harvest.
Connect a "New Time Entry" Timing trigger with a "New Time Entry" Toggl action.
  • Export time entries to a spreadsheet for reporting.
Connect a "New Time Entry" Timing trigger with a "Create Spreadsheet Row" Google Spreadsheets action.
  • Import Timing projects from a spreadsheet.
Connect a "New Spreadsheet Row" Google Spreadsheets trigger with a "Create Time Entry" Timing action.
  • Create Timing projects for each of your teammates whenever you create a project yourself.
Connect a "New Project" Timing trigger with a "Create Project" Timing action.
  • Posting a message to Slack whenever you start a timer.
Connect a "New Timer Started" Timing trigger with a "Send Channel Message" Slack action.

All available triggers and actions

The integration currently supports the following triggers:

  • New Project. Triggers whenever you create a new project in Timing.
Example use case: Exporting new projects to your billing system.
  • New Time Entry. Triggers whenever you create a new time entry in Timing.
Example use case: Exporting logged time to your billing system (e.g. Freshbooks) or into another time-tracking service (e.g. Toggl).
  • New Timer Started. Triggers whenever you start a timer in Timing.
Example use case: Triggering automations that you want to occur whenever you start a timer.

It also supports the following actions:

  • Create Project. Lets you create a new project in Timing.
Example use case: Importing a shared set of projects into each team member's Timing account.
  • Create Time Entry. Lets you create a new time entry in Timing.
Example use case: Importing time entries from another time-tracking system into Timing.
  • Start Timer. Lets you start a running timer in Timing.
  • Stop Timer. Stops whatever timer is currently running in Timing.

Let us know if you need additional triggers or actions beyond these.

We also recommend having a look at our API documentation; many of the principles described there also apply to the Zapier integration.
