Today, you will learn how you can use Siri shortcuts to start and stop tasks, without having to open the web app at all. This means you can start tracking even faster than before \u2014 without wasting time loading the web app.<\/p>\r\n<p>You can even come up with a custom voice command to open your shortcut \u2014 \u201cdo work\u201d, \u201cget it done\u201d, \u201cevery day I\u2019m hustling\u201d \u2014 are all perfectly acceptable options.\u00a0 Let your imagination run freely. There\u2019s nothing like commanding your phone to \u201cget er done\u201d at the start of a meeting&#8230;<\/p>\r\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\r\n<h2>Siri Shortcuts and Automation<\/h2>\r\n<p>Using the Timing API and iOS 12 or later, you can quickly create Siri shortcuts to e.g. start and stop tasks. During installation, the shortcuts will ask you for an API key which you can generate in the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.timingapp.com\/integrations\/tokens\">&#8216;API Keys&#8217; section of the web app<\/a>. Once installed, simply run the corresponding shortcut to start or stop a task.<\/p>\r\n<h4>Here are the Siri shortcuts we have prepared for you:<\/h4>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/d133a34ae0b64fbd9c6754e4b021298a\">Start Timing Task<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/31b4a662e1a84f659e2c71c7c89100d7\">Start Timing Task (letting you select a project for the task first)<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/50dfcc3566774109954be23c5fff8003\">Stop Timing Task<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>How to install a shortcut:<\/h3>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>In the Timing Web App, go to <em>API Keys<\/em>\u00a0and tap the\u00a0<em>Start Timing Task<\/em>\u00a0link. Or tap the shortcut and tap Delete Shortcut.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Customization Galore<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You are welcome to customize these shortcuts to your liking, e.g. by changing the &#8220;Start Task&#8221; shortcut to let you select from a couple of preset titles instead. Or you could have the shortcuts app automatically trigger the \u201cStart Task\u201d action from other shortcuts, or when you take some specific action on your device. For example, with the upcoming iOS 13 update, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macstories.net\/news\/the-full-list-of-automation-triggers-in-shortcuts-for-ios-13\/\">you will be able to automatically start a task whenever you open a specific app<\/a>!
