The trial is run by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4dayweek.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 Day Week Global Foundation<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who funds research into 4-day week practices, the future of work and workplace wellbeing. The UK trial is in partnership with<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autonomy.work\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Autonomy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.4dayweek.co.uk\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 Day Week UK.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>What is the 4 Day Week?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 4 Day Week Global Foundation is a not-for-profit community established by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4dayweek.com\/andrew-barnes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andrew Barnes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4dayweek.com\/charlotte-lockhart\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charlotte Lockhart<\/span><\/a>. It aims<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to &#8220;provide a platform for like-minded people who are interested in supporting the idea of the 4 day week as a part of the future of work&#8221;. <\/span>A future where workers get an extra day off per week with no reduction in pay. This is based on the 100-80-100\u2122 model. Which stands for 100% pay, for 80% of the time and a commitment to maintain at least 100% of the output.<\/p>\n<h2>The UK Trial Halfway Results<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UK 6-month trial kicked off in June 2022 and will conclude in November 2022. The full pilot programme started in February this year with information sessions and a call to sign up. More than 70 UK organisations signed up for the 6-month trial with the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240127034512\/https:\/\/www.4dayweek.com\/news-posts\/uk-four-day-week-pilot-mid-results\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">halfway point results<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> published last month. Some of these results include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">88% of respondents stated that the four-day week is working \u2018well\u2019 for their business at this stage in the trial<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">46% of respondents say their business productivity has \u2018maintained around the same level\u2019, while 34% report that it has \u2018improved slightly\u2019 and 15% say it has \u2018improved significantly&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On how smooth the transition has been (with 5 being \u2018extremely smooth\u2019 and \u20181\u2019 being \u2018extremely challenging\u2019) &#8211; 29% of respondents selected \u20185\u2019, 49% selected \u20184\u2019 and 20% selected \u20183\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">86% of respondents stated that at this juncture in the trial, they would be \u2018extremely likely\u2019 and or \u2018likely\u2019 to consider retaining the four-day week policy after the trial period<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Other Countries Taking Part<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UK is the first country to roll out the trial. Other countries taking part are the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and South Africa.\u00a0 The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230810112003\/https:\/\/www.4dayweek.com\/news-posts\/30-companies-au-nz\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia and New Zealand<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pilot is already underway with 30 companies participating; and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230810010844\/https:\/\/www.4dayweek.com\/news-posts\/us-four-day-week-pilot-begins\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">60 North American companies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> signed up for the US trial.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Founder Andrew Barnes says \u201cIt\u2019s not just having a day off a week.
